The Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria ( MOPPAN) held a 2-day seminar in Kaduna recently.

The seminar Kicked off on April 17,2018 and ended April 18,2018, with the Theme : Film Making: OPPORTUNITIES and challenges in Nigeria, held at Chincherry hotels, Kaduna.

In attendance was the Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board ( NFVCB) Alh. Adedayo Thomas with staff of the Board in  Kaduna Centre, as well as dignitaries in the film industry and lecturers  from  educational institutions within the state.

Adedayo Thomas presented a paper titled: Standardizing the benchmark, Film Making and Marketing in Nigeria. He advised practitioners on the need for proper planning as a tool for effective marketing. He advised that films should be morally and culturally relevant and that music and other film related works should portray Africa in a positive light. The Executive Director also made reference to a  previous seminar organized in Yankari Games Reserve Bauchi earlier in the year where he talked about the game reserve having wonderful facilities and Potentials for film production and advised producers and film makers to exploit the facilities.

Thomas reiterated the need for the registration and censorship of films and video works so as to give authenticity to products. A new system in which every movie will be issued a certificate is in the pipeline. He also reinstated the Board’s commitment to boost the nation’s economy and provide benefits to the practitioners.

The sessions were quite interactive and participants made very valuable contributions on the issues discussed.
