The newly-appointed Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, has resumed at the Board to tumultuous welcome by members of staff.
Alh Thomas was accompanied by political associates and officials of the Presidency and met briefly with the outgoing Executive Director, Ms Patricia Bala, inside the office before both of them performed the hand over – take over ceremony in the Board’s conference room. Speaking at the hand over, the new ED promised that funding should not be a constraint to the Board’s operations during his tenure as it is ideas that generate wealth. He said that while he has not come with all the solutions to the Board’s challenges, together with the management team, solutions will be forged. Alh Thomas expressed gratitude to his political and academic constituencies as well as the Board’s management and promised not to disappoint them.
Earlier in her remarks, the out-going ED lamented the many challenges that bedeviled her tenure. Ms Bala also listed her achievements and urged all concerned to support her successor in the task ahead.
The Board’s management team led by the Director of Film Censorship and Classification, Mrs Fatyma Sa’adu, was on hand to welcome the new ED. Alh Thomas comes to the leadership of the Board equipped with a Theatre Arts degree and competencies in development policy and advocacy.
