The “Creative Industry Regulatory Quartet” otherwise known as “THE QUARTET”, is a forum that comprises of similar regulatory agencies in the Nigeria film industry made up of
Nigerian Film Cooperation (NFC)
National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB)
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) |
It was initially created by the four agencies on the 6th October, 2005 with the primary objective of providing a platform for a strong inter-agency co-operation that will culminate in a better synergy in coordinating policies and activities of their respective mandates and address issues of common concern. Although the forum went underground for 3 years, it was not until the 16th July, 2009 that the DG of NFVCB, Mr. Emeka Mba re-awakened the forum by calling on all members to re-unite. The DG reminded the Quartet of the benefits of sustaining the forum, which includes sharing of ideas, interfacing and exchanging of views/information for collaboration among members and also for the enhancement of the film industry in Nigeria.
Basically the forum acts as a liaison were matters of common interest among members and the industry are tabled for discussion and a unanimous line of action taken. The forum is made up of two bodies; the Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s) meeting and other Subordinate Officers meetings; both meet once a month. The “Subordinate Officers” deliberate on policies and make recommendations for the CEO’s rectification.
