The National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB) has taken a significant step forward in its mission to improve service delivery and foster stakeholder engagement by inaugurating the Parastatals Servicom Unit( PSU). The initiative underscores the Board’s dedication to delivering world-class regulatory services to the Nigerian film and video industry and the general public.

The inauguration, held as part of the celebration of Customer Service Week, saw key members of the NFVCB  management and SERVICOM officials outline new goals for service improvement. Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of NFVCB, Dr Shaibu Husseini, emphasized the importance of timely and efficient service delivery. The ED, who was represented by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Mrs Alonge Oyediran, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to ensuring that Industry Practitioners receive prompt service  delivery and responses to their  inquiries.

Key Highlights of the Event:

1. Formation of SERVICOM Committee: The SERVICOM committee will serve as the NFVCB’s customer service unit, responsible for collecting and analyzing feedback on service delivery from both internal and external stakeholders. The committee will work closely with all departments to gather data, assess service experiences, and recommend improvements to management.

2. Development of a Service Charter: A major focus of the committee will be drafting a comprehensive Service Charter. The document will clearly define the NFVCB’s vision, mission, and service standards, ensuring that all services are measurable, transparent, and aligned with stakeholder expectations.

3. Commitment to Stakeholders: The NFVCB is dedicated to fostering a stronger relationship with its stakeholders, particularly filmmakers, distributors, and other industry players. By regularly gathering feedback and tailoring services to meet industry needs, the Board aims to boost the competitiveness of Nigerian films on a global scale, with special attention to improving quality standards and combating piracy.

4. Focus on Professionalism and Continuous Improvement: The Board will promote professionalism at all levels, ensuring that both internal and external customers are treated with respect and provided with timely services. This aligns with the SERVICOM mandate to make service delivery attitudinal, emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct and responsiveness in public service.
5. The National Co-ordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli thanked NFVCB staff for their hard work as well as appreciating the often-overlooked contributions of all staff members, including security personnel and cleaners. Their vital roles in maintaining the agency’s operations were recognized as a key factor in ensuring seamless service delivery.

She challenged the Board to meet the demands of both the Nigerian and international film markets by enhancing production standards, improving service timelines, and addressing industry challenges such as intellectual property protection and piracy.
