NFVCB Promotes Media Literacy Among Youths

In its ongoing effort to educate the public on responsible media consumption, the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) recently visited the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Primary School in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Led by NFVCB representatives, Mrs. Taiwo Ogunsami and Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sowande, the presentation centered on the Board’s classification symbols and empowering students to make informed choices about film and video content.
The session also emphasized the importance of selective content consumption, encouraging pupils to opt for age-appropriate materials. The Q&A segment addressed concerns about underage involvement in film productions, clarifying that while minors can participate, they must be shielded from harmful or explicit content.
This initiative underscores the NFVCB’s commitment to equipping Nigeria’s future leaders with essential media literacy skills. By collaborating with educational institutions, the Board aims to cultivate a culture of responsible media consumption, promoting a safer and more informed society.
The School’s management expressed gratitude for the NFVCB’s efforts, stating, “This partnership will positively shape our students’ viewing habits and contribute to a brighter future.”
